She's looking at you because it's your turn to plan!

Have Fun

Regardless if it's a tent wedding or traditional venue, we encourage couples to continue the positive attitude throughout the planning process and on the wedding day.  There are many moving parts and decisions to be made as a couple.  Enjoy the process as you're learning and experiencing new things!

The Property

Every property owner want's things to look as well as they can.  We like this because projects get accomplished and the places we visit have never looked so good!  Make a reasonable project list and then double the time you think it will take.  Prioritize and cut the list if time is tight.

The Weather

The perfect wedding day for weather would be sunny to partly cloudy, 70-75 degrees with low humidity, and a 3mph wind.  This is a very narrow band of ideal weather for you and your guests.  Be realistic when it comes to the weather.  You can't control it but you can plan for it.

The Vendors

Don't just think of them as providing a product with a price tag but look deeper and make sure they will be providing you an excellent service.  They're a huge part of the success of your day.  Our vendor planner and vendor coordinator packages are a great way to double check that everything is in order.

Things to note

Wind is the most common pesky thing in regards to decor.

Start dinner no later than 5:30 PM.

You could just have a sweetheart table.

Put "chat with guests" in your timeline.

Don't spend all day with your photographer.

Plan elements in the day that reflect the both of you and your interests/story.

Guests have a hard time putting their phone down.  Suggest a phone fast.

The elderly may be concerned how to get around.  Plan for it.

Listen to your DJ/Band before booking.

Skip the gift opening or brunch the day after.  You will be tired.  Instead, host a welcome party a day or two before.

Your mom and dad are so proud of you!

Don't Skimp

Sometimes when it comes to at home weddings the flexibility and more relaxed atmosphere can make it easy to forget simple things that make the experience better for you and the guests.  Go through the entire day with a magnifying glass and double check that you have all the supplies and people required to do it well.

Time of Year

What time is sunset?  If it's early then make the ceremony earlier in the day along with dinner.  What is the high and low temp?  Will there be bugs?  How far are guests traveling?  Holidays, school, road work, or city events going on?

Lighting

Our tents have plenty of warm light but don't forget about the path your guests will take to the other parts of the property like the restroom or parking area.

Your Family

Can you imagine a wedding without family?  That sounds so strange.  Honor them by listening to their ideas, letting them help where they can with planning and preparations, and not overworking them on the wedding day.
